Websites for engineering firms
Outlap is a senior-engineer-led web studio in Brisbane. We build marketing sites and web apps for engineering consultancies, industrial services companies and asset-management firms. Your buyers read past adjectives, so the sites we build carry numbers instead.
01 · The problem
What should an engineering website show?
Your website should make your capabilities easy to check. We use the terminology, diagrams and project detail your buyers work with: a correctly labelled P-F curve, a load chart from a planning system, or a clear account of the work delivered.
Your buyers notice. A maintenance manager can tell within seconds whether a page was written by someone who knows what an unplanned shutdown costs. A generic site rarely offends; it fails quietly, and the enquiries that never arrive are the ones with budget attached.
When choosing a web developer for engineering companies, ask whether they can read your work without translation.
02 · The standard
What does a credible engineering website look like?
It shows the work instead of describing it. Real data visualisations lifted from real systems, correct terminology, and claims with numbers and units attached.
In practice: a P–F curve with the interval marked and the axes labelled correctly. Load charts whose geometry comes from an actual planning system rather than an illustrator's memory of one. Copy that uses the vocabulary your clients use: criticality, condition monitoring, FMEA, defect elimination.
If you build asset-management software, this holds twice over. The website is the first product demo, and it has to prove the product's seriousness before anyone books a call.
03 · The proof
Have we built for asset management before?
Yes. We built an asset-telemetry and condition-monitoring platform for an asset-management consultancy: P–F curves with detection windows, 5×5 criticality screening, and document intelligence over work instructions.
The consultancy's own engineers use it, so the terminology had to be right the first time. That build is why our pages can draw a P–F interval without looking it up.
The rest of the portfolio stands the same inspection: a production health-tracking app with a scheduling and forecasting engine, a maintenance-planning simulator that models shutdown and service-schedule changes against a live plan without writing back to the client system, and an online store for an engineering business that sells machined parts and licensed machine software worldwide with live card payments, destination-based tax and live freight quotes.

04 · The builder
Who runs the build?
The founder: an experienced project and product manager who has delivered for tough industrial clients, the kind who check every detail. Every job runs like an engineering project: fixed brief, fixed quote, verification before handover.
One senior person owns the work from brief to deployment. Nothing arrives as a zip file; the site ships deployed, tested and running. Builds take days, not months, because the studio is small and the process is fixed.
05 · The speed
How do your builds hold up on a site tablet?
Fast pages come from how the site is built, not a tuning pass at the end, and every build is checked before handover. Open this page on the device in your hand and judge it yourself.
Speed shows up in the things your users feel: fast loads on a site tablet with two bars of signal, accessible markup, nothing wasted. This page is one self-contained file with zero external requests and no tracking scripts. Every build we ship is checked the same way.
06 · The cost
What does an engineering website cost?
Essentials is $599, a marketing site is from $1,490, an online store is from $1,490 and a web app is from $4,900. Every job gets a fixed quote from the project brief, and we reply within 2 business days.

Agencies commonly quote five figures and timelines measured in months for comparable scope. Our ladder is published and the quote is fixed before work starts. The full breakdown is on the pricing page; for market context, see what a website costs in Australia. Agencies wanting this under their own brand: white-label.
